This Is Not A Show
This just makes me want to cry. I can't believe I didn't go to these.
R.E.M. debuts new "guitar-heavy" material in Dublin. They're playing 5-nights, testing out new songs for their upcoming record. They're calling it a "working-rehearsal."
Word is that it harkens back to the heavier, Hi-Fi and Monster-era guitar sound. In a small theater. In Europe. sigh... The older tracks filling out the shows include nuggets like "Little America", "Sitting Still", "Second Guessing", "Maps and Legends", "Letter Never Sent", "1,000,000" and more. And there are still 2 more shows to go.
Please, please, please come home and do something like this. I'd be on a plane in a heartbeat.

Yeah, it was great to be there for the first two. I'd say that the new ones are closer to a Document-type rock than a glammy Monster-type rock. Either way, it sounds like it'll be a really exciting record. Even Michael's lyrics sound really good (from what I could catch live)
