VFC

The MCI show was a great time, as expected.

Mellencamp put out a great set. Unfortunately, the place was maybe 1/3-full at the time. Very underrated performer. Springsteen and REM put on similar, but much shorter sets than the Philly show I saw a week ago. They were still the best acts of the night.

Highlights:

Eddie Vedder singing Begin The Begin with REM.
Stipe with Bruce on Because The Night.
Bruce on Man On The Moon.
Pearl Jam w/ Tim Robbins (yes, the actor) covering X's New World ("It was better before, before they voted for what's-his-name...")

Unexpected highlight: The Dixie Chicks w/ JT on Sweet Baby James. That was just beautiful.
Unexpected lowlight: Jackson Brown, Bonnie Raitt and Keb Mo. 3 great talents. One incredibly boring set.

The time just flew by. There was very little downtime. There was a rotating stage, so the next band was setting up while the current band was playing.

Eddie Vedder is looking hotter than ever. Bruce too. *slurp*

Great night. Glad I didn't pay a fortune for tickets though. Our seats weren't great, but the view was fine. Can't wait to see a recording of the show.
